Social Tipping Interventions – Event I

Anlässlich des 5. Geburtstag der Deutschen Allianz Klimawandel und Gesundheit (KLUG) werden im Rahmen zweier Veranstaltungen die Theorie und Praxis von „Social Tipping Interventions“ aufgezeigt.

Worum geht es in der Veranstaltungsreihe „Social Tipping Interventions“?

Nicht nur im Health for Future Netzwerk, sondern auch im Austausch mit anderen Aktivisti und Menschen, die sich engagieren, hören wir, dass sich der Einsatz für Klimagerechtigkeit oft wie ein Tropfen auf dem heißen Stein anfühlt. Dass alles zu langsam geht und die Widerstände des fossilen Status quo schier unüberwindbar scheinen.

Das Konzept der „Social Tipping Interventions“ gibt uns Mut, dass stark beschleunigte Veränderungen möglich sind, wenn wir in bestimmten Feldern (Städte, Energiewende, Werte/Normen, …) soziale Kipppunkte erreichen. Wir glauben, dass es in der Klimagerechtigkeitsbewegung noch mehr Gehör finden sollte.

Beschreibung von Social Tipping Interventions – Event I

The concept of social tipping interventions plays an increasing role within the climate science and movement. Prof. Dr. Ilona Otto published a first article on “Social tipping dynamics for stabilizing Earth’s climate by 2050” in early 2020, which has developed an enormous reach and was further developed and brought into practice by others such as Prof. Dr. Timothy Lenton or Dr. Nick Watts. The work on social tipping interventions deeply influenced the development of the German Climate Change and Health Alliance (KLUG) and lead to a steady exchange of ideas including a keynote lecture from Ilona Otto during the very first Planetary Health Academy lecture series.
